【Abstract】 Objective:To investigate the effect of vertebral bone mineral density on bone cement distribution volume in percutaneous vertebroplasty.Method:The vertebral bone mineral density(BMD) of patients with thoracolumbar vertebral compression fracture was measured preoperatively by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. According to the diagnostic criteria of osteoporosis of the WHO,18 patients were selected and divided into three groups:normal BMD group(group A),low BMD group(group B) and osteoporosis group(group C),with each group of 6 cases.All patients underwent unilateral vertebral vertebroplasty,with 2.5ml bone cement injection for each patient.All patients experienced CT scan postoperatively,and the volume of bone cement diffusion was calculated.Result:2.5ml bone cement was injected into each of the patients successfully.The mean injection volume of bone cement in group A was 2.460±0.116cm3,2.450±0.038cm3 in group B,and 2.457±0.037cm3 in group C.The mean diffusion volume of bone cement in group A was 6.717±1.127cm3,5.650±0.669cm3 in group B,and 4.617±0.542cm3 in group C,with bigger diffusion volume than the injection volume(P<0.01).Meanwhile,the biggest diffusion volume was noted in group A,and the smallest diffusion volume in group C, which showed significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:The bone cement diffusion volume is bigger than injection volume in vertebroplasty.The BMD of vertebral body is closely associated with the diffusion volume of bone cement.The higher BMD of the vertebral body,the bigger diffusion volume of bone cement. |
