  对228例胸腰椎骨折（无截瘫）患者的观察统计，发现骨折早期可出现腹胀、腹痛、大小便功能障碍等一系列消化功能障碍表现，发生率为88％，形成其特有的并发症。其发生原因与骨折创伤造成支配胃肠功能的植物神经被累及有关。此并发症易被忽视，治疗不规范。作者对此症选择了五种不同的方法进行治疗，比较相互效果，认为早期口服吗叮啉、西沙必利治疗方法简便，效果较优，有效率达92％。
